An Information Evening for the parents / carers of our S4 / S5 pupils was held in September 2022. This focused on the challenges and opportunities facing our young people in S4 and S5 and the ways in which parents / carers and the school can support pupils through some of the most important years of their schooldays.
In September 2023 we held a BGE information Evening. The aim of this Evening was to provide parents and Carers with information and an Understanding of the Support available in school and the ways in which parents/carers can support their child at home.
We provide an extensive support programme for all our young people. Activities and initiatives include Leadership of Learning, Family Learning, parents’ information evenings, targeted and universal supported study programmes, Easter revision programme for S4 – S6 pupils, S1/S2 Literacy/Numeracy/Health and Wellbeing initiatives and an extensive programme of rigorous monitoring, tracking and reporting of pupils’ progress.
Our Home Engagement Initiative also provides parents/carers and our young people with a greater insight into their academic performance and progress. A presentation giving further information to parents/carers is now available.

Numeracy is the ability to understand and work with numbers.
Numeracy skills are needed in order to function fully in everyday life. Good numeracy skills can increase your career options. A presentation focusing on the importance of numeracy is available here.
A Numeracy booklet has been produced by staff to give guidance to pupils and parents on the 8 key numeracy strands. It is designed to give an overview of each area and show examples of how this is taught across the school. It is hoped that using a consistent approach across all subjects will make it easier for pupils to progress. There are a number of links and glossaries throughout and we hope you finds this information helpful.
The booklet is designed as a reference guide when helping your child with homework or to reinforce numeracy ideas within teaching practice. The contents page outlines the eight key numeracy areas and each section gives an outline and useful examples on each topic.

In November, S2 pupils took part in a week-long IDL in all of their subjects, focusing on the theme of sustainability. This family learning booklet encourages some further thinking about sustainability, including things to watch, initiatives to get involved in and hints + tips on recycling.
