Bishopbriggs Academy is a non-denominational six year comprehensive school formed in 2006 following the merge between Bishopbriggs High School and Thomas Muir High School.
Pupils study a variety of subjects in order to discover and develop their strengths, likes and aptitudes. From S2, pupils choose courses to follow that will lead to national examinations and certification. In addition to certified courses, pupils also receive personal and social education that is designed to help them develop into responsible young adults with the necessary life skills to function effectively in today's society and that of the future. The fifth and sixth years are devoted to preparing our young people for the demands of Highers, Further Education and those of the world of work.
Bishopbriggs Academy has established an outstanding reputation across the country. The school has gone from strength to strength with our young people enjoying success in a very wide range of arenas. Exam results in the key measures are amongst the best in Scotland and the school has won two National Awards; one for 'Enterprise in Education' and the other for 'Literacy across Learning'. Recognition of the quality of educational provision at the school was recognised in 2021 when the Sunday Times announced that Bishopbriggs Academy was 'The Scottish State Secondary School of the Decade'. Furthermore, since June 2008, Bishopbriggs Academy has had the privilege of being an active member of the German PASCH network - “Schools: Partners for the Future.”
