World Maths Day 2012

Wednesday 7th March 2012 was World Maths Day. 5.5 million students from over 200 countries came together to compete in Maths challenges. Pupils logged on to the World Maths Day website and were matched with three other students of a similar age and ability to compete in one minute live challenges.

All S1 Bishopbriggs Academy pupils came to the school library to compete. 206 pupils took part, correctly answering a colossal 20771 questions. They were competing against pupils from all over the world including England, Taiwan, USA, India, Canada, Egypt and Austria. By chance, a few pupils even managed to be matched against another person in their class!

Congratulations to Jason Chan who came top in Bishopbriggs Academy with 848 points, almost 300 points more than any other pupil in first year.
