Senior Citizens' Soup Lunch

Forty pupils from Miss Loughlin and Mrs Shearer's Intermediate 1 biology classes recently held a soup day for some of our local senior citizens. Several months earlier the pupils had planted seeds in the Bishopbriggs Academy vegetable patch. The seeds had been obtained through the Morrisons Supermarkets "Let's Grow" vouchers which had been collected by the school. Pupils carefully tended the seeds and eventually a crop of carrots, spring onions and potatoes was produced. In Home Economics, with the help of Mrs Gordon, the vegetables were turned in to tasty lentil soup.

The pupils then set tables and arranged the school library for the lunch before their guests arrived. Whilst the guests were eating, Mr Walsh's ukulele orchestra entertained the guests with some of their favourite songs. After serving lunch and clearing up pupils held games of bingo. The lunch was a great success and was enjoyed by both pupils and their guests.
