Galaxy of Stars 2017 - 18

StarWe at Bishopbriggs Academy strive to ensure the highest quality of support is in place for our young people in their academic studies. However we also pride ourselves in the huge range and wide variety of extra-curricular opportunities we provide for our pupils.

We believe in the importance of encouraging, developing and celebrating all talents and achievements. In the last year a great number of our pupils have excelled themselves in a variety of different fields.

In no particular order, the major successes include:


S5 pupils, Carly Anthoney, Eilidh Anthoney and Emily Birks received a Diana Award for their voluntary work with the Tennis Aces organisation which provides activities and tennis coaching for young people with learning and/or physical disabilities.

Evan Galasso, S5 is part of the Partick Thistle Development Team squad.

Asirini Parakramawansha, S2, Luca Barbieri, S1 and Callum Robertson, S1 came second overall in the East Dunbarton Chess Association Dragon League in November 2017

Asirini Parakramawansha, S2, Vincent Wan, S3, Marco D’Alessio, S3 and Lily Inigo, S4 took part in the Royal Society of Chemistry Top of the Bench (West of Scotland Final) competition in November 2017 and finished in the top ten.

S3 pupils, India Marwaha and Katie Hendry were successful in achieving places in the  U15 Central Schools football squad.

S6 Pupil, Zac McCaffery has been appointed as a Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament.

Fifth year pupils Grace Fleming, Ross MacGregor, Gurvina Johal and Jason Campbell came third in the finals of the WOSPEG Physics competition in November 2017.

Ross Bowhay, S6 has been nominated as a finalist in the British Education Awards for his achievements in Higher Chemistry, English, Human Biology, Maths and Physics.

Emily Birks, S5 has been nominated as a finalist in the British Education Awards for outstanding achievement in National 5 SQA examinations.
