Galaxy of Stars

We at Bishopbriggs Academy strive to ensure the highest quality of support is in place for our young people in their academic studies. However we also pride ourselves in the huge range and wide variety of extra-curricular opportunities we provide for our pupils.

We believe in the importance of encouraging, developing and celebrating all talents and achievements. In the last year a great number of our pupils have excelled themselves in a variety of different fields.

In no particular order, the major successes include:

S2 pupils, Aidan Otterson, Kimberley Shek, Honor Gibson, Lisa Reid, Leigh-Anne Todd, Abbie Sutherland and Sorley Johnston and Zuzanna Rosinska took part in workshops with graphic novelists and designers, Metaphrog.  They were challenged to design posters to attract young people to visit public libraries.  Their winning designs were selected and displayed at Bishopbriggs Library and were distributed to libraries around East Dunbartonshire Council.  A special mention must go to Lisa Reid who had the winning design.

Sorley Johnston S2, Stephen Emordy S3, Kieran Ballard S2 and Connor Emordy S2 came 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively in the 3km Springburn Harrier’s Canal Canter in August 2015.

Ross Macpherson, S3 has raised over £350 for Tourette Scotland by selling the origami models he makes.

Julia Currie, S3 has achieved black belt in Taekwondo.

S4 pupil, Ellie McKay was the joint winner of the national final of the Poetry by Heart Scotland competition in February 2016.  Ellie was one of the youngest pupils to take part and was later interview on Janice Forsyth's Radio Scotland programme.
