BA Seniors celebrate their win

The team celebrates their fantastic achievement!

Bishopbriggs Seniors went into this game with an unbeaten record all season, hoping to win the Cameronian Cup for the first ever time. The cup is one of the most prestigious in schools football, dating back to 1875. Along with playing at Ibrox stadium, there was a lot of pressure on the boys to deliver.

Bishopbriggs started the better team; going a goal ahead through Jordan Armstrong from the penalty spot after Callum Hughes was brought down in the box. The key moment in the match came on the 25th minute, when the Lourdes striker went one on one with Nathan Adger in goal. Nathan was able to make 2 wonderful saves and maintain Bishopbriggs’ lead. 1 minute later and Bishopbriggs doubled their lead through a neat finish from Cameron Gauhl and were able to finish the half two up. Despite pressure from Lourdes and a goal in the 50th minute, Bishopbriggs always seemed in control. Kieran Hamill came off the bench with 20 minutes to go and caused the Lourdes defence a lot of trouble. He was eventually rewarded; staying calm when through on the keeper and slotted the ball past the keeper to give Bishopbriggs a 2 goal advantage again. Bishopbriggs went on to play their best football in the remaining 15 minutes, keeping possession and playing some incredible football from the back to the front. Best moment of the match came with three minutes to play. Craig Loughlin came off the bench to score his first ever goal, leading to huge celebrations from the players, management and staff.
