On Wednesday 5th February 2014, almost 70 pupils and staff visited the BBC Scotland studios to watch a recording of CBBC's 'BBC Sports Relief does Glee Club'. This was as a reward for good behaviour and for reporters from our BBC School News Report group to have the opportunity to see a television programme being made.

'Sport Relief Does Glee Club' saw Glee Clubs from all over the UK compete in heats to get through to the televised finals. Pupils watched as CBBC stars Sam and Mark presented the show which will be the first show of the series, while the groups were judged by Carrie Grant, David Grant, John Modi and Sisco Gomez on their vocal ability, creativity and performance. The groups with the highest scores from the heats will go through to perform again, this time hoping to win the CBBC audience vote in the final at Sport Relief weekend (21st – 23rd March) and become the winners of Sport Relief Does Glee Club 2014.

Three groups – Busker, the Peppermints and A-List competed in the heat that Bishopbriggs Academy was watching. Pupils enthusiastically clapped and cheered to support each group as they all performed the one song “Applause” by Madonna before giving individual group performances. We won’t spoil the surprise by telling you who won the heat!

Congratulations must go to all the pupils who behaved impeccably and were complimented by BBC staff on their behaviour and enthusiasm. A special mention must go to first year pupil, Kwame who was brave enough to get up on stage and dance to entertain the audience between takes.
